Tell falsehoods. Honestly, the U.S. Supreme Court says it’s true. This summer, The Supremes ruled it is legal to lie about being a war hero. Their decision crushed the little-known Stolen Valor Act of 2006. The act made it a federal crime for a person to falsely claim, fake or lie about having received military honors. The case focused on Xavier Alvarez, a public official in Pomona, Calif. After winning election to a local water board, he boldly claimed to be a 25-year Marine and Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. Neither was true and he was the first person charged and convicted under the law.
