Pendley addresses dubious PhD | Sonora / Tuolumne News, Sports, & Weather, Angels Camp, Twain Harte, Jamestown | Union Democrat: Columbia Union School District Superintendent John Pendley addressed concerns about his doctoral diploma at a regular board meeting Tuesday, which also included advanced planning for next school year. In the open session of the meeting, Pendley said that he earned his doctorate from LaSalle University in Louisiana before the school failed to “reach accreditation.” He also said that Columbia Union School District stopped giving him additional pay for the degree in 2001 — two years after he was hired.
